Charles Darwin University (CDU)

Charles Darwin University (CDU) is a dual-sector university with campuses located across the Northern Territory and in Sydney. The University also has centres in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Additionally, CDU provides training across a large number of sites across the Northern Territory and in remote Indigenous communities, making it one of Australia’s most diverse universities.

Charles Darwin University (CDU) is collaborating with Global IT Factory to implement a new online platform to improve the way University staff engage with the curriculum design experience. Global IT Factory’s Curriculum Management System is unique in that it will seamlessly manage the complexities of both vocational (VET) and higher education (HE) curriculum structures, which underpin the quality courses offered by this leading university. The new system will ensure the provision of timely curriculum information to prospective and current students.

Global IT Factory’s Curriculum Management System will enhance Charles Darwin University’s capability to:

  • Develop a clearer picture of its curriculum and product portfolio
  • Continuously review and improve their business process to ensure high-quality curricula
  • Support more collaborative curriculum design processes
  • Develop shared resources for staff to inform new curriculum designs that enhance pedagogic practice and student learning and success
  • Enable better business intelligence and data to support decision making and meet regulatory requirements
  • Facilitate relationships with external organisations, such as TEQSA, ASQA and professional organisations through increased reporting capability
  • Ensure prospective and current students are provided with timely information for enrolment decision making.
  • Support VET specific processes such as the maintenance of their Trainer Skill Register and automatic population and synchronisation of curriculum data from TGA (training.gov.au)

“When evaluating products, we knew that we needed a solution that would provide us with core curriculum management functions such as curriculum design, workflow-based governance, flexible collaboration support with extensive integration and publishing capabilities. However, we also needed a solution that would enable our staff to transform their curriculum practice through collaboration and co-design. With Global IT Factory we have both and we are excited to be working with them to deliver an integrated, next practice solution across vocational and higher education.”
